MADRID AS A POINT OF DEPARTURE

From architecture to rug.

Cittadella began by looking at Madrid from a different perspective: its façades, its volumes, and some of the geometries that have shaped the city's architectural identity.

Interior designer Manuel Espejo translated those architectural references into the language of the rug. Lines, planes and proportions leave the building behind to become pattern, texture and material.

The result is four distinctive designs connected by a common architectural origin.

Capitol, Cristal, Caleido and Kio translate recognizable elements of Madrid architecture into four compositions designed to inhabit entirely new spaces.

The geometry of one of Gran Vía's most recognizable buildings becomes a composition of lines and planes with a distinctly architectural character.

MANUEL ESPEJO × KAYMANTA

A collaboration rooted in interior design.

Cittadella grew from a collaboration between interior designer Manuel Espejo and KAYMANTA, bringing together two complementary ways of thinking about space.

An architectural and interior-design perspective was paired with KAYMANTA's experience in materials, color, texture and handcrafted rug making.

The four rugs were conceived as designs capable of moving beyond their original references and becoming part of very different architectural settings.

Some designs are worth revisiting.

First introduced in 2021, Cittadella returns five years later as part of KAYMANTA's design story. The architecture that inspired it remains relevant, and the geometries behind the collection continue to feel distinctly contemporary.
