A family story of craftsmanship, design and handmade rugs that began in Argentina more than two decades ago.

THE ORIGIN

It began long before we made our first rug.

Grace and Claudio started their family in Jujuy, in northern Argentina, a place where craftsmanship is part of everyday life and the value of work made by hand is understood from an early age.

They married in 1992 and, years later, settled with their family in Córdoba, in the center of the country. It was there that they decided to build a business around something they both deeply valued: craftsmanship.

Claudio, trained in accounting, took responsibility for administration. Grace, with a background in law but a lifelong affinity for design, handcraft and making things by hand, began developing the products and collections.

Two very different ways of seeing things that ultimately built the same company.

Two sewing machines
and an idea.

Argentina was —and remains— internationally recognized for the quality of its leather.

We wanted to do something different with it.

At a time when Argentine leather was largely exported as a raw material, we began transforming it into patchwork rugs.

The first time we told our story.

Before Miami, Madrid and the thousands of rugs that would come later, there was a first collection and a first catalog.

Argentine leather, craftsmanship and a new way of turning that material into rugs were already there.

For us, it carried an even simpler idea:

From what is ours.

We wanted to show the world not only an extraordinary material, but what we were capable of creating with it.

THE FIRST COLLECTION

Even the names spoke of where we came from.

Those first handmade leather rugs carried names connected to our place of origin.

More than twenty years later, Sauce remains part of the KAYMANTA story.

OUR CLIENTS SHAPED THE JOURNEY

We learned to listen before we learned to grow.

Our first rugs were made from leather. Soon, clients began asking for different sizes, colors, designs and materials.

Those conversations transformed KAYMANTA. Customization stopped being an exception and became our natural way of working.

Wool, viscose and jute followed. Over time we added bamboo, nylon and recycled PET, expanding what each project could become without abandoning the principle we began with: every rug should be made with knowledge and purpose.

INDIA · CRAFTSMANSHIP

Craft knows no borders.

When our clients began asking for new fibers and techniques, we looked for that knowledge where rug making has been refined through generations.

Today, much of our textile rug production is handcrafted in India, working with specialized workshops and following each piece through every stage of production.

Behind every finished rug is a sequence of decisions — and many skilled hands.

ONE CRAFT · DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

Argentina was the origin.
Miami changed the scale.
Madrid added another point of view.

2009

Miami

In 2009 we opened KAYMANTA in Miami, establishing the city as our U.S. base and beginning a new chapter in South Florida.

Working closely with interior designers, architects and design firms expanded our experience in large-scale residential and professional projects and strengthened the custom side of the business.

Today Miami remains central to KAYMANTA in the United States: custom projects, trade relationships and a curated inventory of handmade rugs available for immediate delivery.

2016

Madrid

Opening Madrid introduced another design sensibility: different architecture, proportions, materials and a different relationship between the rug and the room.

Today both perspectives coexist within KAYMANTA and influence the way we approach every project.

SECOND GENERATION · UNITED STATES

A family business.
A new generation.

KAYMANTA was founded by Grace and Claudio Cid in 2003 and remains a family business today.

Their three children grew up close to the company, taking part in different aspects of the business from a young age. Today, the next generation is beginning to shape a chapter of its own.

After graduating in Advertising and Public Relations in Spain, María del Sol joined KAYMANTA professionally and today leads the company's Miami operation.

She works directly with interior designers, architects and clients, following projects from their earliest conversations through development and execution.

Based in the United States, she represents the next generation of KAYMANTA and an increasingly important part of the company's future in the American design community.

More than two decades after KAYMANTA began in Argentina, the next chapter is already being written in the United States.

Many of those rugs belong to projects we will never show publicly. Privacy is part of the trust our clients place in us.

And after thousands of rugs, we still believe the most important one is always the next.
